Karim Adeyemi (5/10) - The biggest highlight of the game for the 23-year-old was his shot against the crossbar in the 63rd minute. Adeyemi finished the game with 3 successful dribbles as he was able to beat his man a few times, but his end product was slightly off all game. He did put in some defensive work with five recoveries but was outshined by the man on the other flank tonight.
Maxi Beier (9/10) - A bit quiet in the first half, as he was asked to come inside and let Ryerson overlap. The second half was Beier’s game, though, with a fantastic goal and pass to Guirassy, which led to the penalty. Also, Beier made impressive pressing and defensive work that showed his dedication to getting BVB into the quarter-finals. After leaving the game in the 85th minute, Beier ended the game with nine recoveries, only one behind team leader Ryerson.
Serhou Guirassy (8/10) - Overall, good hold-up play from Serhou, who was fouled a match-high five times, including the one that won BVB the penalty. While the penalty was soft, he did his job in getting to the right place to draw contact from former BVB Thomas Meunier. An assist to Beier’s winning goal put the icing on the cake to a great game for Serhou. His pass to Groß in minute 17 showed quality decision-making that almost led to a goal. The only major drawback of his performance was the big chance he missed in the first half in front of the goal.
