Gregor Kobel (7/10) - Kobel made two saves when it mattered, to keep his clean sheet, but his passing and long balls could have significantly improved. He sometimes holds the ball a little too long.

Julian Ryerson (7/10) - Ryerson was an important part of Dortmund's attack in the first half, using his speed up the wing, but his efficacy in challenges began to diminish as the match wore on. He looked fatigued when he subbed out in the eighty-fifth.

Emre Can (5/10) - Emre Can made several recoveries and a pair of important challenges, but he frequently looked unsteady on the ball. Each of Union's closest chances seemed to have been created through pressure on Emre Can. He deserves credit for helping earn the clean sheet, but was at fault for more than one Union chance.

Nico Schlotterbeck (8/10) - Schlotti does everything for this team. His long ball acuracy was above average, he made six clearances, recovered the ball thirteen times, and managed fifteen passes into the final third. All of this as a central defender.

Ramy Bensebaini (8/10) - Ramy's intensity in this match was his greatest trait. He fought for every ball in what we're used to seeing Ryerson do. His tackle to start the play leading to Dortmund's second goal was beautiful. He made it rather difficult for Union's Woo-Yeong Jeong on the wing.
