Julian Ryerson (7/10) – Ryerson had a pretty quiet first half but came to life in the second. His impressive sprint late in the second half perfectly set up Jamie Gittens for a headed goal.
Carney Chukwuemeka (7/10) – The Englishman’s two halves were polar opposites. He looked unconfident on the ball in the first half and made poor decisions in passing, which led to multiple turnovers. Yet, in the second half, Chukwuemeka showcased his footwork and technical ability. Getting the ball to Julian Brandt, who subsequently gave Guirassy a tap-in, was more impressive than his actual goal, which took a deflection. Still, his shot had some bite to it, and he deservedly earned his first goal in Black and Yellow.
Pascal Groß (6/10) – On another day, I think Groß would have made a goal contribution, but he was just a step behind the play on a few attacking opportunities. His long balls and set pieces were not particularly impressive, either.
Daniel Svensson (7/10) – Svensson seems to have picked up on how to effectively press under Niko Kovač. His constant pressure on the opponents allowed him to win most of his duels in the midfield.
