Gregor Kobel (6/10) – Kobel made a pair of important saves, and didn’t receive credit for a double save on a play that was incorrectly deemed offside. Had a goal resulted, VAR would have likely ruled in Mainz’s favor. Kobel's passing was poor, especially his long balls.

Waldemar Anton (6/10) – Waldemar Anton made a few early mistakes and only won a quarter of his tackles. He made some risky plays into our own box but did dribble the ball progressively on more than one occasion. Anton’s performance was satisfactory but nothing more.

Emre Can (7/10) – A couple of early mistakes could have been costly, but Emre Can maintained his composure throughout this match, ensuring the ball was cleared from Dortmund’s box as quickly as possible. His strong header also resulted in Dortmund’s second goal.

Niko Schlotterbeck (9/10) – Niko Schlotterbeck was the complete player in this match. Not only was he the defensive stalwart we’ve come to know, he also stepped up to take corner kicks today, earning two assists from said corner kicks. This was impressive from the German International.
