Jürgen Kohler is another player who saw the brighter side of life in Germany and wanted to stay. The current manager of the Ghana national team played for Bayern Munich in his early years, but played his best years at Borussia Dortmund, retiring as a club legend.

5. Toni Schumacher

Another player on this list who retired at Dortmund is Harold "Toni" Schumacher. Although, it must be said that he won't be written into BVB folklore since he was never a standout player. In his final year of his playing career at BVB, he played in only one league game. Not much to write home about, but he makes this list nonetheless.

6. Christian Nerlinger

Admittedly, Christian Nerlinger is mostly remembered for his formation years at Bayern Munich, but he did make the switch to Borussia dortmund in the late-90s. The midfielder only played 59 league game for BVB, but he makes this list nonetheless.
