Borussia Dortmund come up against Mainz in the Bundesliga this weekend. Naturally, a lot of the focus will be on BVB's Champions League final against Real Madrid later in the month. However, they have Bundesliga duties to fulfil.

With a place in the Champions League almost secured for next season, Borussia Dortmund may treat this game of something of an exhibition match. Currently, BVB must finish fifth (or higher) in the Bundesliga or win the Champions League to qualify. Either way, the philosophy which Edin Terzic wishes to instil is to win every possible match, regardless of the magnitude.

That said, this Bundesliga match does present a golden opportunity for three Borussia Dortmund players to prove themselves...

1. Donyell Malen

Donyell Malen has been in and out of the Borussia Dortmund starting lineup since the turn of the calendar year but it is through no fault of his own. The competition for places in the attack is hostile, which can only be a good thing for Edin Terzic.

However, given the inspired form of Donyell Malen despite not playing every match, he should certainly be given an opportunity to prove himself for Borussia Dortmund vs Mainz. After all, Malen has scored six goals and provided an assist in his last ten games across all competitions, so Terzic should strike while the iron is hot.
