Borussia Dortmund has been home to some truly incredible players. Particularly in past couple of decades, they have ushered the reputation of being a selling club but from Dortmund's perspective, this is a testament to them signing unheard of players and developing them into world-beaters. Certainly, their profit margins have the business model to thank.

This list will run through the players who improved after leaving Borussia Dortmund. A disclaimer must be made to say that a player's inclusion in this list does not mean they were bad for BVB, it just means they improved after leaving the club.

1. Ivan Perisic

Ivan Perisic spent three years developing with Borussia Dortmund and in fairness to him, he was beginning to look like a complete gem. However, the Crotian's time at Borussia Dortmund ended sourly, following a fallout with Jurgen Klopp. Perisic critiqued the former BVB manager as favouring other players ahead of him unfairly, to which Klopp advised Perisic to keep his mouth shut.

Since leaving Dortmund, Perisic has enjoyed a fruitful career, becoming one of the best full-backs in Europe. He replicated his success with Borussia Dortmund by winning the Bundesliga again with Bayern Munich, he also won the Champions League there. Other career highlights include Inter Milan, where he is most recognised after winning the Serie A and Coppa Italia.
