In Europe, Bayern Munich remain the only other German team in the UEFA Champions League. In the Europa League, SC Freiburg were handed a brutal 5-0 defeat by West Ham United after winning the first leg by a goal.

Bayer Leverkusen on the other hand, remain unbeaten in all competitions after two come-from-behind victories against Azerbaijani side, Qarabag FK. Xabi Alonso’s side were down by two with twenty minutes remaining when Jeremie Frimpong pulled one back. Then in stoppage time, Patrick Schick scored not once, but twice to win the tie for Leverkusen.

Borussia Dortmund have a very difficult string of match fixtures awaiting them after the international break, the first of which is a trip to Bayern Munich. Hopefully the players can stay fit and build upon the last four wins. Marcel Sabitzer will remain suspended for this match, but he will return the following weekend against VfB Stuttgart. Then comes the first leg of the Atletico Madrid tie, which should be a very exciting ocassion for the club as they look to make the semifinals of the Champions League for the first time since 2013.
