Borussia Dortmund will hope to catapult themselves back into the Bundesliga title race this weekend as they take on league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
A massive topspiel awaits Borussia Dortmund this weekend as they head to the BayArena to take on Bayer Leverkusen. This game will be the perfect opportunity for the Black and Yellows to fire themselves back into title contention after their inconsistent start to the Bundesliga season. But beating Xabi Alonso's in-form league leaders will certainly not be an easy task.
Borussia Dortmund go into Sunday's game on the back of two straight wins. They claimed a 3-1 victory away to AC Milan on Tuesday, and will hope to use that performance as the blueprint for success this weekend.
Felix Nmecha remains sidelined for Borussia Dortmund. Niklas Süle is also a doubt due to illness. Karim Adeyemi could be in contention for a return to the starting XI after his goal against Milan. The hope will be that the illness bug - that affected a number of players over the last week - has finally left the BVB camp.
Bayer Leverkusen have not lost a game this season, and are currently on an incredible 14-game winning run. They will hope to welcome Florian Wirtz back into the squad after he missed their Europa League clash on Thursday.
Wing-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Álex Grimaldo have been in fine goalscoring form this season, and could pose a threat to the Borussia Dortmund defence on Sunday. Jonas Hofmann will also be keen to make his mark against his former club.
