Borussia Dortmund’s 2013 Champions League final lineup - Where are they now?

RB - Łukasz Piszczek (player-manager at Goczałkowice-Zdrój)

The legendary full-back Łukasz Piszczek needs no introduction to the Borussia Dortmund faithful, having represented the club between 2010–2021. Showcasing his experience, Łukasz Piszczek is now the player-manager at III Liga club Goczałkowice-Zdrój, where he first began his career as a child playing in their youth academy.

CB - Neven Subotić (retired)

Neven Subotić enjoyed an incredible ten years in the Borussia Dortmund defence, having originally signed from Mainz in 2008. After playing in the 2013 Champions League final, Subotić spent five more years with Borussia Dortmund, including two loan spells before being sold to Saint-Étienne in 2018. The centre-back did return to Germany to play for Union Berlin for one year but he eventually retired in 2021.

CB - Mats Hummels (still plays for Borussia Dortmund)

Mats Hummels still plays for Borussia Dortmund and he is one of two remaining starters from Dortmund's 2013 Champions League final. Hummels has flip-flopped between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund but in the two Champions League finals, he has represented the BVB. With his contract expiring in 2024, the 2024 Champions League final could be his final BVB game.

LB - Marcel Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund youth coach)

The Borussia Dortmund legend Marcel Schmelzer has retired, hanging up his boots for the final time in 2022. The former Dortmund full-back spent an incredible 14 years with Borussia Dortmund, winning two Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals and three DFL-Supercups. Having spent his entire career in Black and Yellow, he is certainly a club legend. He is now a part of the club's youth coaching staff.
