With the summer transfer window looming ever closer and closer, more transfer speculation has begun to come or the fore. This of course is no different for a club like Borussia Dortmund.

As we’ve harped on incessantly, Borussia Dortmund stands at a crossroads in the club’s history with so much change coming from restructuring internally as well as seeing a need to very much freshen up on the pitch well. Midfield will continue to be a point of discussion until it is addressed this summer, as it currently looks to be a position of intense focus for the club.

According to recent reports, Borussia Dortmund could look to Spain to bolster their midfield as the club have been linked with s move for Brian Fariñas. Fariñas, who still plays for Barcelona’s u19s, has been lauded as a great, creative talent, and has also attracted interest from Arsenal.

Fariñas’ player profile is very much in line with the type of player incoming Technical Director Sven Mislintat would target: young, exciting, and with possibly high ceilings in terms of potential. This would then go in line with the club’s overall interest in finding the next batch of wonder-kids to help supplement the squad.

According to the information available, Barcelona would certainly like to keep the talented midfielder but if he does not sign a new contract, a sale this summer is very feasible. If Dortmund truly are interested, this could end up being a bargain deal for them long term, depending on how Fariñas were to develop. For Fariñas, he would be entering an environment that has helped faciltate the growth of young, exciting players, and possibly give him the opportunity to show what he can do on a very high level in one of the top five leagues in European football.
