Borussia Dortmund allegedly interested in Brazilian midfielder Breno Bidon
Borussia Dortmund’s list of alleged transfer targets for the summer continues to grow, this time with their gaze turning towards South America, which is admittedly a not so common occurrence in recent years. The club are allegedly currently looking at Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon.
Bidon, 19, has a goal and 2 assists in 9 appearances for Corinthians u20 side and has picked up interest from numerous European clubs including the likes of Arsenal, Bayern and Barcelona. According to the report, Dortmund’s interest is “preliminary” as no formal contact has been made between the club and the player’s entourage.
In terms of position and playstyle, Bidon is an attacking midfielder lauded for his range of passing and exceptional vision on the pitch, often delivering very accurate passes to his teammates that help to split defenses open and great opportunities for his teammates to score. He’s still very raw and has yet to get any real first team experience, but these traits would make him a very interesting player profile for Dortmund to look into.
Dortmund pursuing Bidon would be a curious turn of events as, as has been mentioned, they have not really pushed to tap the South American talent pool over the last few transfer markets, the last time being the signing of Leo Balerdi in 2019. It would be a pleasant turn of events however as there is ample talented players in this area for Dortmund to look into. It would signal a change from the current transfer strategy - something that perhaps could be shifted by the incoming Sven Mislintat, who’s known for his ability to find gems in a variety of leagues abroad.
As for now, there isn’t very much linking Bidon and Dortmund at the moment, but as we know things can move quickly in football. Bidon would certainly be one for the future if he joined Dortmund, and we would have to see what departures Dortmund have this summer to accurately decipher where Bidon would fit into this squad.
