The English market is once again in focus for Borussia Dortmund as they look to target their next potential star in the making. This time, it is Arsenal’s academy that have caught their interest, with young English winger Amario Cozier-Duberry being linked with the club.

According to reports, Cozier-Duberry is still in contract negotiations with Arsenal, however there is a chance that the player may look to seek pastures new. Dortmund are allegedly continuing to to montior the situation and remain interested in the player. The club are poised to seek to make a move should contract negotiations with the Gunner’s stall.

As a player, Cozier-Duberry is able to play out wide or in attacking midfield. Currently playing for Arsenal’s under-21s, Cozier-Duberry has scored five goals and provided two assists in eight appearances. The 18 year old starlet hs been compared to Arsenal star Bukayo Saka in terms of his play style and is praised for his ability to dribble and provide powerful crosses.

A move for Cozier-Duberry would make sense from a Dortmund standpoint as the club have had a solid amount of success from poaching players from English academies. Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are the perfect examples of this, and would also prove to be a good selling point for the club to convice the player to join if they were to open negotiations in earnest.

The club may see some reshuffling in the attack come summer depending on the futures of players like Doneyll Malen and Gio Reyna, so bringing in Cozier-Duberry could be a shrewd long term move. The player would certainly not be a short term replacement for either player but, depending on the other incoming signings that arrive in the summer, he could complement them well and offer some needed depth. In the long term could become yet another star in an ever growing line of English players to find success at the Westfalenstadion.
