According to reports coming out of Italy, Borussia Dortmund have earmarked one of Serie B’s more interesting attackers as one of their targets for the summer transfer window. The player in question is Romanian winger Dennis Man of Parma.

Man (25), who joined Parma in the winter of 2021 from Romanian side Steaua București for 11 million euros, has a contract that runs out in 2025. The club have so far not come to an agreement with the player on a contract extension, so the 25 year old may be a candidate for sale this coming summer.

Man’s numbers over the course of the last year have been impressive for Parma, with the Romanian international scoring 11 goals and notching 5 assists so far. Taking a look at specific stats, Man averages 0.42 non penalty goals (91st percentile) 2.84 shots (82nd percentile) and 5.15 shot creating actions (89th percentile) per 90 minutes. His passing stats are equally impressive with the player averaging 5.15 progressive passes per 90 couple with a pass success percentage of upwards of 80%.

The fact that Man has become a creative and attacking fulcrum for Parma, who currently sit top of Serie B in part because of his efforts, seems to have allegedly caught Dortmund’s attention, and the report states they are actively working on a deal. The price would allegedly be somewhere between 15-18 million euros.

The club will certainly have wingers on their mind this summer if Donyell Malen does make a move away from the club as has been reported quite often in recent months. Jadon Sancho seems to be the club’s main target (to have him stay permanently at the club, and the name Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven has also been thrown into the mix.

On one hand, Man would be an economical addition to the squad, but one can’t help but wonder what the production drop off would be between Serie B and the Bundesliga. It remains to be seen if there is any real weight behind this story, but Dortmund are clearly putting their feelers out to try and make some transfer decisions swiftly.
