Borussia Dortmund boss: Bayern Munich have the strongest squad in the Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund CEO for sport Lars Ricken has admitted that the Bayern Munich are the team to beat in the Bundesliga this season.

Bayern Munich have made a strong start to the season and lead the Bundesliga standings by two points after five matches, with Borussia Dortmund currently three points behind in fourth place. We could see an exciting title race in the Bundesliga this season, with reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig also in the hunt.

Lars Ricken on Borussia Dortmund's title hopes

For Borussia Dortmund CEO for sport Lars Ricken, Bayern Munich have the strongest squad in the league at the moment. Despite that, he is also keen to ensure that the Black and Yellows not only fight for titles, but also win some.

During his appearance on the ZDF-Sportstudio on Saturday evening, Ricken said (via Sky Sport), "You have to acknowledge without envy that Bayern probably have the strongest squad. They have kept their squad together and spent money again."

Borussia Dortmund have come agonisingly close to winning trophies in each of the last two seasons. But they were pipped to the Bundesliga title by Bayern Munich last year, and were beaten by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final in June. BVB last won a trophy in 2021, when they beat RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final.

Nuri Sahin will be keen to change that in the coming seasons. And Ricken, who helped Borussia Dortmund win the Champions League in 1997, is also keen to ensure that they win silverware.
