Borussia Dortmund's transfer plans have begun to further take shape as the club's interest in FC Nürnberg's Can Uzun now seems to be growing signifcantly. Uzun has been impressive for Nürnberg in the 2. Bundesliga, with his performances not only garnering the attention of Borussia Dortmund, but Bayern Munich as well.

According to reports from Sky Sport, Uzun and his entourage are now in close contact with Dortmund, as the club see him as the eventual successor to Marco Reus. This is a very big statement for anyone to make about such a young player, as Reus has been Dortmund's talisman for over a decade.

Uzun's stats currently stand at 6 goals and 1 assist in 15 appaearances for Nürnberg, with the player exceling in terms of his progressive passing (4.48 per 90), progressive carries (2.89 per 90) and successful take ons (3.54 per 90) as well. The player is currently out inured with a groin strain, however.

According to the information available, Nürnberg have an asking price around 10 million euros, but this may increase if the player's performances maintain an upward trajectory after his injury layoff. The player's contract is also set to expire in 2027, which doesn't put much pressure on the club to sell at this current time.

The transfer, if it were to occur, would more likely take place in the summer. The links to Dortmund raise questions about the future of not only Marco Reus, but also Gio Reyna, who would be one of the natural successors to Reus in Dortmund's current squad. There has been much uncertaintiy surrounding the American international, and a move for Can Uzun could cast further doubt on the club's plans for Reyna's future in black and yellow.
