Borussia Dortmund loan watch: Disastrous PL spell for Gio Reyna; Tom Rothe shines in 2. Bundesliga

Gio Reyna
Reyna struggled for minutes at Borussia Dortmund in the first half of the season, prompting him to look for a loan move away from the club in January. Somewhat surprisingly, the USMNT international decided to join Nottingham Forest on a six-month loan. And it is fair to say that the move spectacularly backfired.
The 21 year old managed to make just ten appearances for the Premier League side, and was on the pitch for a total of 231 minutes. Staying at Borussia Dortmund would have been a better option for Reyna, who now faces an uncertain future with Nottingham Forest deciding against making his signing permanent.
Reyna's development has certainly stalled over the last two seasons, and Borussia Dortmund would likely be open to a sale this summer. The attacking midfielder certainly has the potential to be a game-changer, as his recent performances for the USMNT have shown. But he needs to be at a club where he can play regularly.
