Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim
By Tushar Bahl
An abject and uncoordinated defensive performance saw Borussia Dortmund suffer their first defeat of 2024, as they were beaten 3-2 by Hoffenheim.
Borussia Dortmund spurned a golden opportunity to extend their lead over fifth-placed RB Leipzig as they were handed a shock 3-2 defeat by Hoffenheim at home on Sunday evening. The defeat showed once again just how much of a work in progress this BVB team really is.
The Black and Yellows were in control at half-time, thanks to goals from Donyell Malen and Nico Schlotterbeck. But they rolled over far too easily in the second-half, with Maximilian Beier's brace leading Hoffenheim to an unlikely comeback win away from home.
The performance and the manner of the defeat will certainly send the alarm bells ringing at Borussia Dortmund, especially with the tough run of games they have coming up. The defeat will do little to ease the pressure on Terzic, who has not been able to stem the tide despite a run of wins to start 2024. Here are our player ratings from Borussia Dortmund's 3-2 defeat to Hoffenheim.
Alexander Meyer (6/10)
Meyer didn't really stand a chance with any of Hoffenheim's goals. Hoffenheim were clinical and efficent, and those in front of Meyer simply weren't good enough.
