Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid
By Tushar Bahl
Julian Ryerson (6/10)
Ryerson put in a dogged defensive performance and his aggressive approach certainly made Vinícius Jr. uncomfortable. Although his decision making going forward left a lot to be desired, and he often failed to find the right touch or pass in the final third.
Mats Hummels (7/10)
Hummels came up with decisive recoveries and blocks on a number of occasions, capping off his excellent season in the Champions League with another strong performance. He was dominant in his duels and helped keep Vinícius Jr. quiet for the majority of the game.
Nico Schlotterbeck (7/10)
Schlotterbeck made some vital blocks as well, and helped keep things tight defensively. The defeat was certainly not down to him.
Ian Maatsen (4/10)
Maatsen started the game well and ventured forward to great effect in the first-half. All his hard work was undone in the 83rd minute when he clumsily gave the ball away and allowed Real Madrid to put the game to bed. An error like that in a Champions League final is simply unacceptable.
