Emre Can (4/10)

Playing as the auxiliary centre-back in possession to start the game, Can looked uncomfortable and seemed to be in danger of losing his cool at times. The BVB captain struggled to cope with Atletico's high pressing and failed to progress the ball up the pitch. He looked too timid in possession, and Borussia Dortmund looked far more effective late on with him off the pitch.

Felix Nmecha (3/10)

Nmecha was surprisingly named in the starting XI and strolled around for 45 minutes before being replaced by Julian Brandt. He cut a lethargic figure for the entire half and failed to make any impact on the game whatsoever.

Marcel Sabitzer (5/10)

Sabitzer was tasked with playing in the number six role early on, which is where he struggled. When he was afforded more freedom to venture forward, he looked a lot more comfortable and offered more of a threat in attack.
