A total of six Borussia Dortmund players will be out of contract at the end of the 2023/24 season, including club legends Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.

We are at the half-way point of the 2023/24 season, and the Bundesliga is taking a three-week long winter break. The contracts of six Borussia Dortmund players are set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for them.

Marco Reus signed a one-year contract extension with Borussia Dortmund in April. The 34 year old is BVB's second-highest goalscorer of all time, and is 11 goals shy of Adi Preißler's record. He has scored five goals and assisted a further three so far this season. A decision on his future beyond the summer will likely be made towards the end of the current season.

Mats Hummels will also be out of contract at the end of the season. The veteran defender has rolled back the years with his performances so far this year, and is also part of Germany's plans for next summer's European Championship. Like Reus, the future of Hummels will also likely be decided during the final stages of the season.

It has been reported in recent months that the contract of Marius Wolf is unlikely to be extended when it expires at the end of the season. The winger turned full-back could well leave Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Thomas Meunier has been free to leave Borussia Dortmund for some time now, and the chances of him getting a contract extension beyond the end of the season aren't very high. Although he did manage to earn some playing time towards the end of the first half of the season.

Mateu Morey has been forced to spend the majority of the last two seasons on the sidelines due to various injuries. And with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the likelihood at the moment is that he will leave Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in the summer.

The contract of Antonios Papadopoulos is also set to expire in the summer. He appears set to leave Borussia Dortmund either in January, or at the end of the current season.
