Borussia Dortmund vs Paris Saint-Germain: Champions League team news, match preview
Borussia Dortmund will welcome French giants Paris Saint-Germain to the Westfalenstadion in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal on Wednesday.
The Black and Yellows will be playing in their first UEFA Champions League semifinal since 2013 and will look to take a strong result to the Parc des Princes for the second leg. Having pulled off a number of upsets to make it this far, Borussia Dortmund will be eager to continue their dream run in the competition and go all the way to the final.
The two sides are no strangers to each other this season, having been drawn in the same ‘Group of Death’ earlier in the competition - with Borussia Dortmund finishing top of the group, ahead of PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle United. Edin Terzic's side then eliminated PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16, before overcoming Atletico Madrid in the quarterfinals.
PSG, meanwhile, defeated Real Sociedad in the round of 16 and then pulled off an impressive comeback to knock out FC Barcelona and qualify for the semifinals.
Luis Enrique's side had the upper hand when they faced Borussia Dortmund earlier this season. Back in September, they secured a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappe and former BVB right-back Achraf Hakimi. In the reverse fixture at home, Dortmund were unlucky not to collect all three points after Karim Adeyemi's opener. It was talented midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery who saved PSG’s blushes of being dumped out of the competition with a 56th minute equaliser.
