Borussia Dortmund reportedly target Dinamo Zagreb's Mislav Cutuk
Borussia Dortmund's transfer business has been very exciting so far in terms of the first-team signings the club has made. Die Schwarzgelben has brought in some very interesting players to help change the face of the team, in an attempt to improve on the squad that made it to the Champions League final last season.
In addition to bringing in the likes of Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier to reinforce the attack of the first team, the club has been hard at work recruiting the next generation of exciting attacking talent as well. The club has already sealed the signings of LA Galaxy's Mathis Albert (16) and Atalanta's Samuele Inácio in this transfer window, which helps to replenish young talent from the departures of players like Paris Brunner and Samuel Bamba. Albert, a talented US youth international, will play on the wing in Dortmund's youth ranks, while Inácio's preferred position is at striker.
To add to this coup of top talent, Dortmund is aiming for yet another attacking jewel, this time in the form of Dinamo Zagreb's Mislav Cutuk. Cutuk, who scored six times in six games for Dinamo's under-19s, was previously on the radar of club's like Juventus per reports, but Dortmund are reportedly putting in significant effort to bring the talented 17 year old into the fold.
Cutuk, based on age and level of development, could be seen as a true replacement for Brunner, who just made his move to AS Monaco. It would be a good response on the club's end to make sure they are stacking their academy with players who have a good chance of making it into the first team someday.
In many ways, the signing of players like Cutuk, Inácio and Albert may offer the opportunity for a bit of a renaissance for Dortmund's academy, which while often filled with talented players, has not seen many make it to the starting 11 of the first team. These players, combined with additional youth signings in recent months, could re-establish the pipeline between Germany's top-flight and one of the country's top academies.
