Borussia Dortmund reportedly target Mainz’s Brajan Gruda
Borussia Dortmund will look to reinforce their squad this summer in an attacking sense, with Mainz winger Brajan Gruda said to be on their list of targets. The Mainz winger has had an impressive season with his club and has certainly made a case for himself in terms of having clubs such as Dortmund interested.
According to reports, Gruda is being tracked by a few Bundesliga clubs. This list includes Dortmund’s aforementioned interest, but also clubs like Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig. In terms of the clubs mentioned, Gruda would be positioning himself well moving forward regarding his development. Both Leverkusen and Leipzig are proven landing spots for up and coming talent to shine, but with Dortmund, there will be a specific need for additional wingers should Donyell Malen depart.
Gruda would very much be a smart signing for Dortmund, as he is a young, talented German youth international primed and ready for the club to help in terms of development. His ability to play multiple positions will also be an asset for him in terms of obtaining minutes. The player is said to want to play for a Champions League club next season, and Dortmund making the final is the perfect demonstration as to why joining the club would be the perfect next step for the player.
The report also mentions the asking price for Gruda, which sits closer to 20 million euros. Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel has even gone as far as to say that "no player is unsellable". The club could likely negotiate this down a bit, especially with the player’s contract expiring in 2026. All in all however, Dortmund would do well to enter the race for Gruda’s signature, as they could be securing the signature of a future star.
