Borussia Dortmund's Sébastien Haller linked with summer exit
The future of Borussia Dortmund's Sébastien Haller has been speculated on quite heavily in recent months, with the potential for an exit being listed as one of the possibilities. In more recent context, further reports seem to indicate that Haller may indeed be on the way out of the club, with BILD stating that his future may be in Turkey.
According to the report, Haller has attracted the interest of Turkish Super League club Beşiktaş. They initially showed interest over the course of the winter transfer window, and it is likely they will show interest again this coming summer.
Haller's situation in Dortmund is a complicated one this season, particularly because of his lapse in form during the first half of the season, and then long-term injury issues in the second. He has shown that he can still score important goals for Dortmund, like in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal clash with Atletico Madrid, but continued time on the bench has allegedly left the Ivory Coast international frustrated at his situation at the club.
On Dortmund's end, the report highlights Haller as one of the club's top earners with a salary of just under 10 million euros. This salary is of course substantial for a club like Dortmund, and if the club were to move Haller on then they would certainly be saving a substantial chunk of capital. That being said, one can't help but feel disappointed if this is truly how Haller's chapter in Dortmund is set to come to a conclusion.
Brought in to help fill the gap left behind by Erling Haaland, Haller has not lived up to his own capabilities due to factors very much out of his control. His potential departure would pave the way for yet another "construction site" in the squad for Die Schwarzgelben to consider this summer, with links already surfacing between the club and Serhou Guirassy. It's very hard to say just what turn this story will take, but we can hope that if it is in the form of Haller's departure, he gets to shine bright at his next club.
