The Black and Yellows secured their place in the Club World Cup after RB Leipzig fell to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday. Marco Rose's side needed to defeat Jude Bellingham and co. in order to have any chance of pipping BVB in the UEFA 4-year coefficient ranking. And their Champions League elimination means that Borussia Dortmund have now secured their place in the Mundial de Clubes FIFA 25.
Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are among the other European teams that have already qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup. A total of 12 European teams will take part in the event. CONMEBOL will have six representatives, while the AFC, CAF, and CONCACAF will have four clubs each, with the OFC and host country getting one slot each.
The 32 teams taking part will be divided into four groups of eight teams, with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stage. The event will take place at the end of the 2024/25 season. Qualification for the Mundial de Clubes FIFA 25 will also come with a massive financial windfall for Borussia Dortmund, which is sure to be a big boost for the club.
