Borussia Dortmund show interest in FC Saarbrücken’s Luca Kerber
FC Saarbrücken, as a club, have had an impressive season so far, with the club beating both Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal. Their tenacity in the competition has brought some attention to the players in their squad, including the likes of Luca Kerber. Kerber, a midfielder by trade, is allegedly being tracked by Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund, it is said, may have a view of adding Kerber to their u23 ranks initially. He has scored 1 goal and provided 2 assists over the course of 17 games this season, lending himself to FC Saarbrücken’s overall success. He was also one of the leading faces in his club's triumph over Eintracht Fankfurt - a result that may have catapulted him just enough into the limelight for Saarbrücken to truly have to worry about retaining his services past this year.
According to the reports, Dortmund could face competition for the player in the form of FC Nürnberg and Paderborn, who are also seemingly keen to add the player to their ranks. The player's decision will likely come down to which club can offer him the highest level of football in the short and long term.
With the player’s contract expiring in the coming summer, Kerber will be a low-cost addition for the club. His presence in the u23s could possibly even propel him even farther up Dortmund’s football hierarchy should he prove himself at that level, but that is something the player would have to really work for considering the massive step up he would be making from Germany's third tier.
