According to several reports, the loan for Jadon Sancho is a done deal. Borussia Dortmund expect the English winger to join up with the squad in the next couple of days.

Dortmund see Sancho as a possible solution in attack for the second half of the season. The club are backing themselves to bring out the very best in the winger so that he can play an active role in helping Dortmund revive their season.

According to WAZ, the loan deal will cost Dortmund 3 million euros over the course of the next three months. The lack of any sort of buy option is disappointing for many fans, but understandable from a United standpoint. United, who signed Sancho from Dortmund in the summer of 2021, paid a hefty sum for the now 23 year old, which amounted to closer to 85 million euros. The club, as has been discussed, likely hope that he can once again take off at Dortmund so they can offload him in the summer for a more lucrative fee.

Sancho's time at United was often put under a microcscope from a media standpoint, most likely to see if a player that tore up the Bundesliga could really make it in the English top flight. This added pressure of the Premier League spotlight was not helpful in allowing Sancho to develop, nor were the consistent changes in managerial staff at Old Trafford over the last few seasons. One might even argue that the move came too early, which also played a role in how Sancho's time there unfolded.

The next few months of Jadon’s career will be pivotal, and it is very likely that his form will improve in the familiar environment that Dortmund will provide. It remains to be seen just how much of an impact he will have on Dortmund’s season, but the hope is that he will at least be able to help the club secure Champions League football for next season.
