Bundesliga Roundup: Bayern Munich win big, but Bayer Leverkusen stay ten points clear

Bayer Leverkusen took another big step towards the Bundesliga title, while Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich thrashed a sorry Mainz 05 side on matchday 25 of the Bundesliga season.

Goals from Nathan Tella and Florian Wirtz helped Bayer Leverkusen claim a 2-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. Xabi Alonso's side remain ten points clear of Bayern Munich with nine games left in the season.

Harry Kane netted a hat-trick as Bayern Munich hit eight goals past a hapless Mainz 05 side that looks destined for relegation. Leon Goretzka, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry were also on target for the Bavarians.

Third placed VfB Stuttgart continued their fine run of form, beating Union Berlin 2-0 thanks to goals from Serhou Guirassy and Chris Führich.

Borussia Dortmund had to do it the hard way following Marcel Sabitzer's sending off, but got the job done away to Werder Bremen. Donyell Malen and Jadon Sancho were both on target for the Black and Yellows in the 2-1 win.

RB Leipzig remain hot on the heels of Borussia Dortmund after breezing to victory over Darmstadt. An own goal from Thomas Isherwood helped Marco Rose's side take the lead, before Christoph Baumgartner scored to make sure of the three points.

There was plenty of drama in the Rhine derby as Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Köln played out a 3-3 draw. Both teams traded blows over the course of the 90 minutes in this topsy-turvy game, before Damion Downs rescued a point for the Billy Goats. Faride Alidou and Robin Hack scored braces for their respective teams.

Eintracht Frankfurt claimed a 3-1 win over TSG Hoffenheim to boost their hopes of finishing in the top six. Robin Koch, Junior Dina Ebimbe and Mario Götze were on target for the Eagles, while Hoffenheim had John Anthony Brooks and Ozan Kabak sent off. Brooks had earlier given Hoffenheim the lead, before his red card turned the game on its head.

SC Freiburg returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga, as goals from Maximilian Eggestein and Michael Gregoritsch helped them beat VfL Bochum 2-1.

FC Augsburg moved into the top half of the Bundesliga standings with a 1-0 win over Heidenheim. Jeffrey Gouweleeuw's first-half strike secured the three points for Jess Thorup's team.
