Could Jürgen Klopp make spectacular Borussia Dortmund return in 2025?
Jürgen Klopp is being linked with a stunning return to Borussia Dortmund, with the club seemingly planning to make him their head of football in 2025.
Regarded as one of Borussia Dortmund's best coaches of all time, Jürgen Klopp made a huge impact during his seven years with the club. The 56 year old is now set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, and will be taking a sabbatical before returning to football.
A surprise report from England is linking Klopp with a return to Borussia Dortmund. According to the Independent, there is increasing talk around the club about bringing Klopp back as head of football in 2025.
It remains to be seen just how much truth there is to this rumour, or whether there is even a realistic chance of Klopp returning to Borussia Dortmund in a boardroom role.
The report comes just days after Borussia Dortmund's boardroom overhaul was announced. Lars Ricken was appointed the new BVB CEO of sport, and will succeed the outgoing Hans-Joachim Watzke. The 47 year old, who spent his entire playing career with BVB, has signed a contract with the club until 2027.
In addition, Sven Mislintat has also completed his return to Borussia Dortmund as the club's new technical director. Plus, contract extension talks with sporting director Sebastian Kehl are set to take place in the summer.
Jürgen Klopp is expected to attract the interest of several big clubs (and quite possibly the Germany national team) whenever he decides to return to football. While a return to Borussia Dortmund would be tempting for both the club and the coach, the chances of this being in a 'head of football' capacity appear to be fanciful at best.
