Edin Terzic bemoans unnecessary mistakes as Borussia Dortmund lose to Hoffenheim
Edin Terzic was left disappointed after Borussia Dortmund let slip a comfortable position against Hoffenheim and fell to a 3-2 defeat.
Borussia Dortmund's winless run extended to three games on Sunday evening as they were beaten 3-2 by Hoffenheim. The defeat was certainly a well deserved one, as the Black and Yellows were comfortably outplayed by a Hoffenheim side that went into a game with no wins since December.
BVB responded well to Hoffenheim's early opener and took the lead before half-time, only for the away side to turn the game on its head in the second-half. And Edin Terzic wasn't best pleased with the way his side invited Hoffenheim back into the game after taking the lead.
In an interview with DAZN, the BVB head coach said that it was difficult for him to explain the reasons for his side's implosion. "It's very difficult to explain. We made an extremely nervous start to the game and were 1-0 down very early on. But I think we played a good first-half after that."
"I didn't like the fact that we had to face so many counter-attacks in the first half - even though we had a lot of the ball and possession - because we didn't defend well. That's exactly what we talked about at half-time. And then we got off to an extremely sloppy start in the second half. We invited our opponents back into the game. It was extremely frustrating to watch."
The defeat was yet another reality check for Borussia Dortmund, who now find themselves just one point clear of RB Leipzig heading into a tough run of fixtures. Edin Terzic's side will hope to return to winning ways this weekend as they take on Union Berlin away from home.
