Edin Terzic: Borussia Dortmund did not deserve the three points against Heidenheim

Edin Terzic felt that Borussia Dortmund were not good enough against Heidenheim on Friday evening as they were held to a goalless draw.
Borussia Dortmund could only manage a goalless draw against Heidenheim on Friday evening, denting their hopes of finishing in the Bundesliga top four. It was a lacklustre performance from the Black and Yellows, who failed to create much in terms of chances.
Edin Terzic lamented his side's lack of penetration in the Heidenheim penalty area, and felt that they made things too complicated for themselves. The BVB head coach also claimed that the draw was a fair result in the end.
"I don't think we deserved more than a point with our performance," Terzic told host broadcaster DAZN. "We had a lot of possession, especially in the second half, but we had no penetration, were hardly able to create any real chances. I think our play was far too complicated and not tidy. We were far too passive in our positioning and we wanted to correct that in the second half. I think the structure looked better in the second half, but it was still not good enough."
Borussia Dortmund were somewhat lucky to come away with a point in the end, as Heidenheim created the better chances, much like in the reverse fixture when last season's 2. Bundesliga winners came from two goals down to rescue a point.
The draw comes as a setback for Borussia Dortmund, who had roared back into the top four after starting 2024 with three straight wins. Things don't get any easier for BVB in the coming weeks, with games against Freiburg, Hoffenheim, and the UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against PSV Eindhoven on the horizon.
