Edin Terzic has hailed Ian Maatsen's impact at Borussia Dortmund since joining the club on loan from Chelsea last month.

Borussia Dortmund desperately needed to sign a new left-back during the January transfer window, and those in charge decided to sign Ian Maatsen on a loan deal until the end of the season. The Dutch full-back has slotted in seamlessly with the Black and Yellows, and already has two assists to his name in six appearances for the club.

Maatsen's performances have seen him receive plenty of rave reviews, and many have already called for Borussia Dortmund to make his signing permanent at the end of the season. There is a release clause of around 35 million euros in the 21 year old's contract with Chelsea.

Edin Terzic was asked about Maatsen's impact ahead of Borussia Dortmund's UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg against PSV Eindhoven. And the BVB head coach was full of praise of the left-back. "Ian is a very young player, but already has a lot of experience under his belt. We've been following his progress for a long time. He brings a lot to the table, both from a technical and physical standpoint. He gives us another dimension in the build-up play because he also feels very comfortable in the middle," Terzic said during his press conference.

Ian Maatsen spent three years at PSV Eindhoven's youth set-up before joining Chelsea in 2018. He will now aim to make a big impact against his former club on the Champions League stage.
