Edin Terzic rues lack of composure as Borussia Dortmund drop more points in the Bundesliga
By Tushar Bahl
Edin Terzic felt that Borussia Dortmund lacked composure in the final third as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund were unable to arrest their slide in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon as they could only manage a 1-1 draw away to FC Augsburg. The Black and Yellows are already all but out of the Bundesliga title race, and their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League also hang in the balance as we head towards the half-way mark of the season.
The draw against Augsburg once again highlighted the many issues that have been affecting Borussia Dortmund this season. BVB made a slow start and conceded yet another early goal, before eventually waking up and finding their way back into the game.
Both teams missed a host of great chances over the course of the 90 minutes. And Edin Terzic was left to rue his side's poor finishing and lack of composure in the final third.
In an interview with Sky Sport, Terzic said: "[We lacked] composure with our final pass and finishing. There was a free-kick where we took the ball off each other's heads. Those are the little moments that combined to produce this result."
The draw against Augsburg leaves Borussia Dortmund in a rather precarious position in the Bundesliga, and Terzic is keen to ensure that his players rise to the challenge when they take on Mainz 05 in their final game of 2023 on Tuesday. "We don't want to have any excuses, we want to accept the challenge. It doesn't help to moan. We will embrace the challenge and hopefully reward our fans with a win in our final home game of the year."
