Emre Can was delighted with the way Borussia Dortmund played as they cruised to an emphatic 7-1 win over Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Borussia Dortmund claimed their biggest win in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening as they breezed past Celtic 7-1. The Black and Yellows enjoyed a goal glut at the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday, with Karim Adeyemi scoring a hat-trick and Serhou Guirassy netting a brace.

Emre Can and Felix Nmecha were also on target for Borussia Dortmund as last season's runners-up laid down a marker against a hapless Celtic side.

"That has to be the standard" - Emre Can on Borussia Dortmund's 7-1 win over Celtic

The BVB captain was pleased with the team's performance against the in-form Scottish giants, and said that it has to be their standard in every game. "There's no such thing as a perfect game, but it was very, very good," Can told Amazon Prime Video.

"There was great energy on the pitch. The way we started was strong. That has to be the standard, that has to be our aspiration. That's how we have to play football. The way we conceded was unfortunate, but the way we came back was just incredible."

Borussia Dortmund opened the scoring after just seven minutes on Tuesday, with Can scoring from the penalty spot. Daizen Maeda then brought Celtic back on level terms two minutes later, only for Adeyemi to blow Celtic away with a first-half hat-trick. And Can was full of praise of his in-form teammate after the game.

"The way Karim played with and without the ball was great. He's making huge progress, playing more maturely, playing with more determination," Can added.

After scoring 11 goals across their last two matches, Borussia Dortmund will hope to continue this run on Saturday when they travel to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
