Hans-Joachim Watzke was full of praise of Edin Terzic after Borussia Dortmund qualified for the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Eleven years on from their stunning run to the Champions League final under Jürgen Klopp, Borussia Dortmund are headed to Wembley stadium once again. Written off by many following the group stage draw, the Black and Yellows find themselves one game away from their first Champions League title since 1997.

The win over PSG once again justified the faith Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has had in Edin Terzic. The BVB head coach has come under plenty of criticism this season for the team's pragmatic style of play, and many fans called for him to be sacked during the winter break. But Watzke retained his faith in Terzic, and hailed the 41 year old's impact after Tuesday's game.

"It's incredible what Edin has achieved," Watzke told Amazon Prime Video. "Last year we were a whisker away from the Bundesliga title. Now we're going to Wembley, in the Champions League final. What more do you want in two and a half years?"

"Edin is someone who works meticulously and extremely hard for the club. As a coach, it's a bit more difficult to get to the final with BVB than with Paris. That's absolutely clear. But he did it. It's a great achievement."

Edin Terzic led Borussia Dortmund to the DFB-Pokal title as interim head coach in 2021, and came ever so close to lifting the Bundesliga crown last season. Now, the boyhood BVB fan will lead the team in London on June 1 with the aim of winning the most prestigious trophy in club football.
