A clinical performance in front of goal helped Borussia Dortmund qualify for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, as they beat PSV Eindhoven 3-1 on aggregate.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus helped Borussia Dortmund secure their place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. The Englishman opened the scoring after just three minutes, before the club legend sent PSV Eindhoven packing in the final minute of stoppage time.

It was an incisive performance from the Black and Yellows, who were under the cosh for the majority of the second-half. But they persevered through, and now find themselves in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, where a mouth-watering tie against a European heavyweight awaits.

Borussia Dortmund took PSV by surprise in the early stages and forced a number of errors in the first-half. Ian Maatsen nearly gave Borussia Dortmund the lead inside two minutes, but his shot from close range was easily dealt with by the PSV goalkeeper. More sloppy PSV defending resulted in BVB's opener just one minute later, as Jadon Sancho found the bottom corner from the edge of the box with a beautifully placed finish.

Edin Terzic's side continued to dominate proceedings after their opener, and Julian Brandt and Donyell Malen both forced saves from Walter Benítez in the opening 20 minutes. Barring a five minute spell from PSV, the home side dominated proceedings for the majority of the first-half.

PSV began the second-half on the front foot, with substitute Hirving Lozano hitting the post with an effort from outside the box. The Dutch giants had a fair few chances after the break, but they simply weren't clinical enough in front of goal. Luuk De Jong had a golden opportunity to take the tie to extra time, but he blazed his shot over the bar in the 94th minute.

Moments later, Marco Reus dispossessed Isaac Babadi before finding the back of the net with great composure to secure Borussia Dortmund's place in the quarterfinals.

Borussia Dortmund looked nervy in the second-half but managed to withstand all of PSV's pressure and secured their place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2021. BVB were certainly the better side over the course of the two legs, and deserved to go through. Their reward is a spot in the last 16, and they will discover their next round opponents on Friday.
