Julian Brandt looking forward to crunch Bundesliga matches against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig
Julian Brandt is looking forward to what he expects will be closely contested matches against Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund have enjoyed a stunning run in the UEFA Champions League this season, but have not been able to translate that form on the Bundesliga stage. The Black and Yellows find themselves in fifth place in the league standings, although that might now be enough to help them qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.
Regardless, Borussia Dortmund will be determined to pip RB Leipzig in the race to finish in fourth place in the Bundesliga. The two teams are currently level on points, and are set to face off later this month. Before their trip to RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund will host Bayer Leverkusen, who have already secured their first ever Bundesliga title and are yet to lose a game this season.
Julian Brandt is looking forward to going up against his former employers this weekend, and then facing Marco Rose's side on matchday 31. "Games against Leverkusen have been very close in the past," Brandt told Sky Sport, adding, "Of course, they are an incredible team, and their performances have been incredible all year. We've always found it very, very difficult in Leipzig. You have to be honest about that. We feel the pressure. But it's also good not to rest too long on what happened [on Tuesday]."
"That's important for us, because I believe that we certainly have more to make up for in the Bundesliga than in the Champions League and we want to perform the way we did [against Atletico] on Sunday."
With two decisive games in the Bundesliga and the Champions League semifinal tie against Paris Saint-Germain coming up, the next few weeks will offer Borussia Dortmund the perfect opportunity to make this season go from underwhelming to a memorable one.
