Julian Brandt has revealed that he lost six kilograms of weight during his recent illness that saw him spend two weeks on the sidelines.

An illness bug struck Borussia Dortmund last month, and a number of players were forced to miss games as a result, including Gregor Kobel, Marco Reus, Julian Brandt, and Mats Hummels. Brandt has now revealed just how bad his illness was. The 27 year old said that he had a fever for eight days, and the illness really hit him hard.

During an appearance on the Twitch stream of MontanaBlack88 on the sidelines of the Baller League founded by Mats Hummels (H/T: Ruhr Nachrichten), Brandt said, "I had a fever for eight days. It makes you impatient, you stare at the wall and don't eat anything. I was absolutely exhausted. I was really knocked out for two weeks. I felt like I had the plague. It's not entirely clear [what the illness was]. In terms of the symptoms, it was a really bad case of flu. [It felt as though] I hadn't done anything for six weeks."

After missing the games against VfL Bochum and Heidenheim, Brandt made his return to action last week as he came off the bench during Borussia Dortmund's home game against SC Freiburg. The playmaker will now hope to return to the starting XI this weekend as the Black and Yellows take on VfL Wolfsburg.

Julian Brandt has been one of Borussia Dortmund's top performers this season, and has a total of eight goals and nine assists to his name in 27 appearances across all competitions.
