Julian Nagelsmann has commented on the Germany prospects of in-form Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.

After his blistering first-half hat-trick against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, calls to include Karim Adeyemi in the Germany squad increased. After all, the 22 year old is in the form of his life and has five goals and five assists to his name this season in just eight appearances.

Unfortunately, Adeyemi picked up a muscle injury against Celtic that put a damper on his hopes of forcing his way into Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the upcoming international break.

In-form Karim Adeyemi knocking on Germany senior team door

The Germany head coach hinted in an interview with the DFB that the forward was going to be named in the U-21s squad instead of the senior team for this month's games. But he added that Adeyemi remains a candidate for the Germany squad in the future.

"Karim Adeyemi got injured, but he's in great form and is certainly a candidate for us in the future. He's currently a very important factor for the U-21s in these important games. He wouldn't have had this regular role with us yet. Of course, the players want to play for the senior team, but performing well in the U-21s is also a good thing for any player."

Adeyemi has won four caps for the Germany national team, with his last appearance coming off the bench against Hungary in the UEFA Nations League in 2022. He played for the Germany U-21s last month, scoring five goals in two appearances, and those goals kick-started his remarkable run of form.

It remains to be seen how long Karim Adeyemi will be sidelined for with his muscle injury. Multiple reports in Germany claim that while a final diagnosis is pending, he is set to miss this weekend's trip to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
