Mats Hummels has admitted that April will be one of the toughest months of his career, as Borussia Dortmund get ready for a number of decisive matches.

A season-defining April lies in store for Borussia Dortmund as they look to continue their charge on the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League stage. The Black and Yellows are set to go up against VfB Stuttgart, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig this month, all matches that could make or break their season.

With such a gruelling run-in, Mats Hummels expects this month to be one of the toughest of his storied career. But he is looking forward to the crunch matches, and knows that they can make it a memorable month.

During his appearance on the Brinkhoff’s Ballgeflüster on Tuesday, Hummels said (via WAZ), "April will certainly be one of the toughest months of my career. But these are great games. The fans are fired up for them, we're all fired up for them and we can make sure that it's a great month for us."

Mats Hummels also spoke about the unbelievable power of the Westfalenstadion on the stadium's 50th birthday. "If you're going to come back from a deficit anywhere, it's going to be here at home as BVB," Hummels said, describing, "the unbelievable power when you have a game where the spark from the stands jumps over, every tackle is celebrated. The fans are always ready to give their all, we as a team have to pick it up."

Hummels joined Borussia Dortmund in 2008 before leaving for Bayern Munich in 2016, and then returning to BVB in 2019. He has made a total of 498 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, and has won two Bundesliga titles and two DFB-Pokal titles with the club.
