"I never want to see a display like that again" - Nuri Sahin after Borussia Dortmund's 5-1 loss to Stuttgart

Nuri Sahin was left frustrated by Borussia Dortmund's lack of basics as they fell to a sobering 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart on Sunday.

The first setback of the Nuri Sahin era arrived in devastating fashion for Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. The Black and Yellows were second best against a superior Stuttgart team and suffered their first defeat of the season.

For Nuri Sahin, the result came as a big surprise. And after the game, he was adamant that he does not want to see a performance like that again for his side.

"I never want to see a display like that again," Sahin told DAZN after the game. "No coach wants to see that. We'll analyse it thoroughly and draw the right conclusions. It's happened, now it's on to Friday. I'm sure we'll perform differently. Because I can't accept that."

Sahin felt that his team deserved the heavy defeat, and said that it was inexplicable for Borussia Dortmund to deliver a performance like that. "The fact is: you can't perform like that as Borussia Dortmund. That was a non-performance - it has to be said quite clearly. We're facing up to that now. We have to learn the lessons and fix the issues as quickly as possible on Friday."

Borussia Dortmund were outplayed from the get go and fell a goal behind after just four minutes. And while Stuttgart managed to score five goals, it would have been a whole lot worse for BVB had it not been for some sublime goalkeeping from Gregor Kobel.

The defeat leaves Borussia Dortmund five points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after just four matchdays. Nuri Sahin will hope to see a response from his side on Friday as they return to the Signal Iduna Park to take on VfL Bochum in what will be a Ruhr Derby clash.
