Nuri Sahin laments "sluggish" Borussia Dortmund performance against Werder Bremen

Nuri Sahin felt that Borussia Dortmund were far too slow and sluggish during their Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen, especially in the first-half.
Borussia Dortmund dropped two points in the Bundesliga title race on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by Werder Bremen. The Black and Yellows were made to pay for their failure to create enough clear-cut chances. And Nuri Sahin was not too pleased with the way his side played.
"We started very, very badly, far too sluggish" - Nuri Sahin on Borussia Dortmund's performance vs Werder Bremen
The BVB head coach was left especially frustrated with his side's performance in the first-half. He felt that they were way too slow in possession and did not offer enough width in attack. Sahin saw improvement at the start of the second-half, but Nico Schlotterbeck's sending off in the 73rd minute changed the momentum of the game.
"We started very, very badly, far too sluggish. It was far too easy for them to defend us. The first-half in particular was nothing. It was far too slow, we were far too narrow in the build-up and had a lot of players behind the ball where it wasn't necessary," Sahin told Sky Sport.
"I felt that we were much better after the break. We had a short phase where we did a good job. And then we get the red card."
With the international break coming up, Sahin will get some time to work with his players on the training ground and prepare the team for the challenges that lie ahead.
Next up for Borussia Dortmund after the international break will be a home game against FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga. Then the UEFA Champions League will get underway, where BVB will kick things off with a trip to Club Brugge.
