After leaving Borussia Dortmund to join AS Monaco, Paris Brunner has given insight on his decision to pursue a transfer.

Borussia Dortmund parted ways with one of the most exciting young forwards in their youth team ranks last week as Paris Brunner completed his transfer to AS Monaco. The BVB bosses wanted to keep the 18 year old at the club, with Sebastian Kehl revealing that Brunner did not want to take the path to the first-team they had set out for him.

Brunner has now explained his decision to join AS Monaco, revealing that the prospect of playing regularly at the first-team level is what prompted him to make the move.

"Monaco showed me a clear, sporting path, how they want to plan with me and develop me. This appreciation and clarity immediately convinced and impressed me. I had the feeling that they really wanted me," Brunner said in an interview SportBILD, adding, "BVB's plan included the U19 Youth League and the U23s as well as occasional training with the first-team."

Brunner will spend this season out on loan at Belgian side Cercle Brugge, before returning to AS Monaco next summer. The forward made his Jupiler Pro League debut this past weekend, coming off the bench in their 1-1 draw against OH Leuven.

After playing a crucial role in helping the Germany U-17s win the World Cup and the Euros last year, Brunner increasingly found himself in the limelight. He has admitted that things happened very quickly for him after that.

"It all happened very quickly for me. Especially after the Euros and World Cup, also in terms of public perception. I think back to great moments with BVB and I always played with all my heart and passion. I'm a person who likes to look ahead and work hard to get the most out of my career. And I feel I'm in the right place for that now."

While Paris Brunner did not play for the Borussia Dortmund first-team, he made 42 appearances for the BVB U-19s, registering 26 goals and ten assists.
