Midfielders: Emre Can, Marcel Sabitzer, Julian Brandt

Salih Özcan has returned to training with the team after being unavailable at the weekend. But it is likely that Emre Can will keep his place in the starting XI. The German midfielder wasn’t convincing on Sunday, but Edin Terzic sees him as a valuable member of his squad.

A double pivot of Can and Özcan could also be an option, but would leave BVB with a severe lack of creativity in midfield.

Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Brandt will likely accompany Can in the middle of the park on Wednesday. The Austrian international has been solid since his return from injury, and has done a decent job in the final third in the absence of Felix Nmecha.

Julian Brandt is BVB’s most creative player and leading goalscorer this season. He is capable of progressing the ball to dangerous areas and making a game-changing impact. Fans will hope to see a much-improved performance from him after his struggles against his former club on Sunday.
