Ahead of the winter transfer window, rumors surrounding possible additions have begun to come to the fore as Borussia Dortmund plan their search for reinforcements for the second part of the Bundesliga season. According to Sport Bild, one of those reinforcements is Serhou Guirassy.

According to the rumor, Dortmund are looking to bring in Guirassy as part of a bigger, long term re-build. Of course, the club already have three strikers in the form of Sébastien Haller, Niclas Füllkrug and Youssoufa Moukoko. The departure of one of these players would likely be necessary to facilitate a move for Guirassy. For a release clause of around 20 million euros, Dortmund would be aiming to get one of the most lethal strikers in the league this season, with Guirassy having scored 18 times in all competitions for Stuttgart.

At it's core, The thought of Dortmund going for Guirassy, especially with 3 strikers already on the team, is almost as ludicrous as the club’s expectation that they can find a quality left back for between 5-6 million euros this winter ( I’m here to be proven wrong though). A move for Guirassy would make very little sense from both the player’s and the club’s standpoint as the player is currently fighting for trophies with Stuttgart (both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal), while the club have other necessities, particularly in the full back position, that still need filling.

With Julian Ryerson’s injury still a very big question mark for the club, securing the services of a full back able to play on both flanks, if not two such players, should be the club's utmost priority. This, coupled with Ramy Bensebaini also going away for AFCON after the break will make for a very thin back line for Dortmund over the course of his absence and Ryerson’s injury, depending on his time on the sidelines.
