Borussia Dortmund would like to extend the contract of Edin Terzic, and talks are expected to take place during the first half of next season.

It has been a whirwind of a season for both Borussia Dortmund and Edin Terzic. Often criticised for his tactics and the team's performances in the Bundesliga, the 41 year old has guided BVB to their first Champions League final since 2013. And now a new contract could be in the offing, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that there will be talks with Terzic about extending his contract during the first half of next season.

Terzic's current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of next season. But the BVB bosses will be keen for a swift agreement to prevent any uncertainty going into the final months of the upcoming campaign.

Not long ago, some Borussia Dortmund fans were calling for Terzic to be sacked. But those in charge always retained their faith in him. And now their trust has paid off, with the club in the midst of a dream Champions League run. It will be up to new CEO of sport Lars Ricken to lead the negotiations to extend the boyhood BVB fan's contract.

This is Edin Terzic's second spell as Borussia Dortmund head coach. He led the Black and Yellows to the DFB-Pokal title as interim head coach in 2021. And only goal difference prevented BVB from winning the Bundesliga title last season. Now a date with destiny awaits, as Terzic and Borussia Dortmund go up against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on June 1.
