Report: Donyell Malen expected to stay at Borussia Dortmund
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund are not expected to part ways with Donyell Malen this month despite plenty of speculation about his future in recent weeks.
Donyell Malen was heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League, and reports claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United were showing interest in signing him. But it now looks like the Dutchman will be staying with Borussia Dortmund, at least until the end of the season.
This is being reported by BILD, who add that the Black and Yellows have yet to receive a serious offer for Malen. While Sky Sport claim that had an offer in the region of 30 million euros arrived, Borussia Dortmund would have been open to a sale this month. Instead, it appears Malen will now stay on at BVB, with Gio Reyna in line for a move away from the club after being reduced to a bit-part role.
It has been a season full of ups and downs for Malen, who made a blistering start before losing his form and falling out of favour. He has found his way back into the starting XI recently, and delivered an encouraging performance against Darmstadt this past weekend.
Donyell Malen has made a total of 97 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 25 goals and assisting a further 16. Six of those goals have come this season in 24 matches across all competitions. The 24 year old, who joined BVB from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, still has two years left on his current contract.
