Report: Emre Can dealing with knee injury
A knee injury forced Emre Can to miss Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga clash against FC Köln this past weekend.
Emre Can was not included in the Borussia Dortmund squad for their Bundesliga match against FC Köln after missing the week's final training session. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, a knee injury seems to be bothering the BVB captain. And while he is not expected to be sidelined for too long, it remains to be seen if he will be available for this weekend's home game against VfL Bochum.
Can was also affected by a knee injury during the first half of the season, having suffered the issue during the UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle United in October. He was forced to miss five games as a result. The 30 year old has made a total of 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and has two assists and one goal to his name.
In addition to Emre Can, Mats Hummels was also forced to miss Borussia Dortmund's trip to Köln. The newspaper adds that the veteran centre-back, who is dealing with an illness, is expected to return to the BVB squad this weekend.
The Black and Yellows suffered another injury scare in defence on Saturday as Niklas Süle was forced off at half-time due to back problems. But the hope is that he will be able to feature in the Ruhr Derby against Bochum this weekend. Meanwhile, Julian Ryerson and Karim Adeyemi have started training individually as they close in on their comebacks after weeks on the sidelines.
