Borussia Dortmund managed to maintain their position in the top four this week by beating Eintracht Frankfurt at home. The 3-1 result is reflective of a game that Dortmund controlled for extended periods, which rightfully resulted in the club claiming all three points.

One of the catalysts for this result was Dortmund's Dutch attacker Donyell Malen. Malen has been in the midst of a renaissance since the start of the second half of the season, racking up important goals for his side. This time however, Malen turned provider for Karim Adeyemi as the German international equalized from Malen's ball across Frankfurt's box. Malen received a sumptuous ball from Nico Schlotterbeck and found his teammate with precision.

Malen's performances have not gone unnoticed in recent months, as clubs in the Premier League have emphasized their interest in obtaining the player's services. Both Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked in recent weeks, with the former even allegedly hoping to include Jadon Sancho in a possible deal.

According to Bild however, Liverpool are allegedly thinking of making a move for the Dutchman. Liverpool had been previously linked with Malen, but now may ramp up the their interest as the player's performances have improved significantly.

The alleged asking price on Dortmund's end would be closer to 40-60 million euros; a hefty sum that the club could use in it's efforts to rebuild this summer. Malen has on numerous occasions also been said to be willing to leave should an interesting offer come his way, and the player has now allegedly indicated that he does not wish to sign a contract extension.

Whether Dortmund should part ways with Malen at this point is a point of debate. His performances have reached a level of consistency that have made him Dortmund's most potent attacker. Dortmund's needs across the the board may dictate that they need to listen to offers, however. Time will tell what the future holds for Malen and Dortmund in the long run.
